FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Karate Man – A Live-Action Video Game plays two nights at Pleasance, 7:40pm on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 November 2026.
Following its Edinburgh Fringe debut, sell-out shows across Australia and a Best Interactive win at Adelaide Fringe, London audiences now get their chance to play Karate Man – the chaotic choose-your-own-adventure where the audience literally plays the show like a video game.
You are handed a controller, and what happens next is up to you. Press a button (e.g. PUNCH) to trigger a sound cue (in this case “PUNCH”) that will activate the on-stage Karate Man actor’s muscle memory (to PUNCH whatever or whoever is in front of him).
Audience members take turns controlling Karate Man (co-director Bruno Dubosarsky) and work together to get a Good Ending. They choose where Karate Man goes, what he does, who he meets and what he’ll do to them. PUNCH, KICK, JUMP, GRAB and so much more…
The story starts in 198X. Karate Man defeats the nefarious Ross Roundkick (co-director Jacob Henegan) and restores peace to Karatetown. Many years later… it is now 20XX, and Karatetown’s champion must face his greatest challenge yet: ordinary life.
First performed at Sydney Fringe 2023 with a Best in Comedy nomination, Karate Man has expanded to an internationally touring alt comedy darling starring Aussie comedians Maddie Houlbrook-Walk, Alexander Richmond, and Alexandra Smith as the huge cast of non-player characters improvising in the audience’s chaos.
Karate Man – A Live-Action Video Game plays at Pleasance London at 7:40pm on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 November.
