Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Karate Man — the show, the controller, the practicalities. Have one we haven't answered? Email contact@beakcomedy.com.au.

Do I have to play, or can I just watch?

You can do either. The controller gets passed around the audience, so most people get a turn if they want one — but you're never obligated to take it. Plenty of people come, sit back, and just enjoy watching the rest of the audience play.

How long is the show?

Around 60 minutes with no interval.

Is Karate Man family-friendly?

Recommended for ages 15 and up. The show contains adult language, comedy violence (everyone's fine), and themes around relationships and ordinary adult life. It's not graphic or gory — it's a comedy — but it's pitched at an adult audience.

Do I need to know anything about video games to enjoy it?

Not at all. The controller has clearly labelled buttons (PUNCH, KICK, JUMP, GRAB, BLOCK, CHARGE, MOVE, SPECIAL) and the show prompts you visually and audibly when it's time to press. If you've never touched a controller in your life, you'll be fine. If you're a lifelong gamer, you'll catch extra layers.

What if I get the controller and don't know what to do?

Just press a button. There are no wrong answers — every choice leads somewhere new, and the cast adapts to whatever you decide. Hesitating IS a choice the show responds to. The worst outcome is a different show, not a broken one.

Is the show wheelchair accessible?

Accessibility depends on the venue. For our June 2026 run at Hen & Chickens Theatre, Islington, London — it's a small upstairs pub theatre, so please check directly with the venue before booking. For any future tour dates, please check the specific venue's accessibility information, as it will vary. Reach out to contact@beakcomedy.com.au with your access requirements and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Are there strobe lights or other sensory triggers?

The show uses dynamic lighting and sound design that reacts to button presses, but does not contain extended strobe sequences. If you have specific sensory sensitivities, email contact@beakcomedy.com.au ahead of your booking and we can give you a full content warning rundown.

Where can I see Karate Man?

Karate Man's UK debut is at Hen & Chickens Theatre, Islington, London, from 22–24 June 2026. More UK and European tour dates are being announced through 2026 — follow @karatemanshow on Instagram for updates.

Can I book Karate Man for my venue or festival?
